The project installed a sewer flush line in the Cargo Way sewer to divert flows from the Islais Creek Booster Pump Station to the sewer box between Cargo Way and Mendell Street. The additional flows will help flush and reduce odors in the project area.

About the SSIP
The Cargo Way Box Sewer Odor Reduction Project is part of the Sewer System Improvement Program (SSIP), multi-billion dollar citywide investment required to upgrade our aging sewer system. The program is the result of an extensive community planning process and will ensure a reliable, sustainable and seismically safe sewer system now and for generations to come.
